5/7 Blog 6: Working on Landscaping!

This week was kind of a more boring week in comparison to the last week. This week, I worked on the landscaping and exterior of my builds. If you are an avid reader of my blog, you will know that I spent a week on this before. However, it was "How to Landscape and Decorate Walls", so landscaping was not my biggest focus. As I have been building these past few weeks and getting my peer's feedback about my improvement, I had noticed a pattern within their critiques. They all seemed to have some sort of negative comment about my background/landscaping. So, I began my journey of becoming a professional gardener (maybe I should call Anoosha for this haha). During my research of minecraft landscaping, I came upon many youtube videos showing me examples and tips. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BgLRFTd2YY. So, I took a look at my moon house first. I decided that a random moon in the middle of a forest with flowers is not so typical, so I needed to change that. I extended the lake so that it would be less of just a grass plain.
As you can see in the picture, I also added some stepping stones to give more dimension and depth to the water. I also added some sakura trees because I feel as though it fit well with the aesthetic I was attempting to achieve. On the right, I also added a stone structure just to spice it up a little bit.
Next, I worked on the house I built in the forest. Many people commented about the background of the picture not fitting in, so I added more trees and a waterfall on the far left. I also added another waterfall on the right, just to make the hill less boring. In addition, I added stone/cobblestone around the pond as that was also a critique stated. Here is the full picture.
So, even though this week was a little more boring than others, it was still crucial to my developing building skills as it is one of the final touches to make my builds seem as flawless as possible. Now, for what I'll do next week. I think for next week I will start to incorperate redstone in my builds! (Redstone is basically electricity btw)

  1. Your minecraft houses and landscapes are always so impressive!! I LOVE that moon house and the lake. I'm super excited to see what you do with redstone! I built a terrible yet very fun subway/roller coaster around my world in like 6th grade, and I'm sure whatever you do with redstone will be much more impressive.
