4/30 Blog 5: Putting my skills to the test!
This week, I worked on applying my learnings to build more houses! Similar to the first ever blog I did, I have constructed three new houses of different varieties. I did have some difficulty when building one of the houses though. It seemed to have a spider infection! P.S. this is satire. I still was not able to aquire a timelapse software, unfortunately, but I have recorded a tour of one of the houses. The tour I recorded was my personal favorite so that will be at the end because you gotta save the best for last. So, now onto the houses! For each house, I built it in a different biome in order to see how I can adapt my building techniques to the environment. The first one I built was on the beach and is kind of in a greek style. Here is the house from a further view. As you can see, the blueprint of this house was very open, not having proper windows/doors, since it is a beachhouse. Even though I really like this house, I feel like the other two are just a little more complex and more aesthetically pleasing. Guess you'll have to keep reading to see them! Here is the interior: As you can see, it is really not that complex or intricate, which is why it is third in my eyes. I also followed a blue theme. Next, I built in my favorite biome, the flower forest biome! This one has to be one of my favorite builds i have ever created, as it is just so beautiful! I MEAN COME ON. JUST LOOK AT IT. YOU CANNOT LOOK AT THAT AND TELL ME HOW IT'S NOT AMAZING. With this build, I went out of my comfort zone a little bit, but it still turned out well! I would 100% live in this house in real life. Well, it doesnt have a bathroom so maybe just a visit. Now, onto the interior: For this build, I went for a yellow theme to match the moon house and the flowers surrounding it. I really like the unique glass roof and floor, even though it is probably not the best architectural design. Now. This is the moment everyone has been waiting for. The BEST MINECRAFT HOUSE TO EVER BE BUILT (this opinion will most likely change next week). For this build, I built in a oak forest biome. Now, don't let the boring biome lower your expectations. *DRUMROLL* HERE IT IS! Yes, I built that. DO YOU SEE WHAT THE HYPE WAS ABOUT NOW. Look at it. It's like my child. Now, the interior is just as good. Luckily, I filmed a tour of this house with complimentary music as stated earlier. As I'm rewatching this video, it is a bit laggy so appologies for that. Now, if you noticed at the front door, the house is labeled "Pelin's house". That's right! This is a house dedicated to Pelin, as per her request in the comments of my last blog. I used the knowledge of her favorite color (green) and decorated the house using that color. Personally, I think the color fits astronomically! Now onto the judge's points. Note: I only asked them about the third house as I dont pay them enough to look at all three (I don't pay them at all). "
Right away already my favourite [he is Canadian] And I like the tiny pond with lots of trees. And that’s a good block pallet for building. It all goes nice together. Also shaders r a good touch. Very nice house" - Best friend from Canada. From this comment I can see that this truly is one of my best builds! "background needs some work the front yard is a mess the path is kinda wacky and the landscaping needs work the house overall if pretty good but everything outside sucks redo it all or change it all but the house is good idk if I can complain about the house besides the top two wood columns maybe change them everything else is fine about the house."- anonymous. Well. This person wasn't too happy about the house as I was. But, they did give some nice critism! So, it looks like I have to work on my landscaping and gardening more. Some people even commented on my improvement! "WOAH I LOVE IT. The roof is really nice and the scenery is perfect. All in all, really good build and a lot of improvement." - Ben. So, I really have changed my techniques for the better! Coming from the rest of the feedback (see below), I really have changed and improved, even if there are still some things to fix. So, my goal for next week will to perfect my buildings and make sure they are 100% non critiquable.
More feedback!:
"Great build! I like the location that you chose for the house, and the pallet compliments said place well. I like the exterior detailing, although I would add maybe buttons or something small like that to tie in the different colors of the pallet even better. I like the bush that you added in front of the bottom window, and I would even continue that in the rest of the environment around the build. To go along with the greenery, I like the two different types of white flowers that you used, but I would also add in another light color to give a bit more variation. Lastly, I think that what you did with the inside of the roof is good, but I would add just a bit more. I think something like fences or slabs would tie in well with the rest of the exterior design."- Anonymous reject block individual
"nice, I think you should add gravel or another type of block in the path to make it stand out more. The regular grass could be cobble or something instead like cobble, gravel, or anything to make it stand out. Also i feel like the pond is a bit small maybe it can be a little bit bigger and the house could have a chimney to make it look cool" -Anonymous
"absolutely love so kudos to you. I love what u did with the depth like being some parts forward and others back. My one thing would be the flowers in the window box, I would say that hand planted flowers should look the part: follow a pattern, be uniform, etc. but that’s not really an issue so i love this build. 420/10"- Hailey

Creating completely organic builds is one of (if not) the most impressive aspects of Minecraft. Things like PVP or speedrunning have set structures to follow & the skills come with repetition, but building requires creativity. I think it's a great idea to take requests and have colors/themes to start with, and Pelin's house looks awesome! - Olivia S
