4/23 Blog 4: I became an interior designer!
Although I have improved on my exterior building skills, I haven't focused on what is in the houses. So, I worked on my interior design! While browsing the explore page of Instagram, I stumbled into a Minecraft thread that could be useful for improving on building. So, I tried to recreate them in my own world. As you can see, I was able to recreate all of them with near perfect accuracy, so this was not a problem for me. However, I did run into a different problem. Last week I mentioned how I was having difficulty getting my timelapse mod to work. So, I was troubleshooting it this week and was able to get it working. But, as the timelapse was processing, it said 24 hours till completion and then crashed. So unfortunately, I do not have a timelapse for this week. I did see a different way to timelapse in Minecraft so I'll try that way this week. Now, moving on to the house I have been working on. Here is the dining area I constructed. I was able to use a variety of blocks for this part. I used a fence, pressure plate, stairs, and a painting as a final decoration. Since there are no real chairs in Minecraft, I was able to make with what I have. Here is the kitchen/stove area in my house. I was able to use campfires in order to mimic the "smoke" effect of a stove. I also added an exhaust vent fan thing to imitate a real kitchen. Although, I am just now realizing that since there is wood right next to the stove, it would be an actual fire hazard to have this in real life. Thank god It's a video game! Here is a corner inside of my house. There is a grandfather clock, a carpet, and a painting. There's not much to say about this part of the house, just that I really like the homemade clock. Here is the living room portion of my house. As the house was a little on the smaller side, I had to add a loft area to make room for this room and the bedroom. Here, I used stairs as a chair once again and used some black wool to mimic a tv. Here is the bedroom which is above the living room, you can get to it using the two ladders provided. There is only one bed because that's all I NEED CAUSE IM AN INDEPENDENT WOMAN. Anyways, I added some flower pots with my favorite flowers in them (which are poppies). So, that concludes my interior designing. I think that I have improved on my interior designing skills and I have learned many ways to make new furniture, therefore concluding this week. Now, I will work on next weeks goal which is to build a house in a few different biomes to test out my improvement. Here is my Vlog (it is in two parts since the file was too big) Script: So, over the past month, I have been working on improving my Minecraft building skills and capabilities. In order to do this, I have had to find some inspiration and guides to help me through. For example, Instagram holds a lot of different communities, one of them being Minecraft. So, scrolling through it, I have found many different profiles posting stuff like guides and walkthroughs of different building styles and techniques. I even made a folder of what I have found. For example, in my second blog, it features a “guide” on roofs and I applied them to my building, here it is. There is also stuff like actual houses, like stuff like this. But, I don’t exactly follow them block through block. I take styles and what makes them unique. So, I take the styles and apply them to my building if I like them. So, Instagram has been my main source of inspiration. Also, there have been many guides on youtube on different styles of building and what tips there can be. Through my quote-on-quote research about this topic, I have found out many new things to apply to my buildings. For example, through the roof guide shown in my second blog, I have learnt many new roof styles to apply to later builds. There is not much else to share other than the fact that I will continue to work on more builds as to come and apply my learnings to them. And, even though I just finished a new house, I will make sure to make more houses where I apply what I’ve learned these past few weeks and show the outcome of my learnings.
