4/30 Blog 5: Putting my skills to the test!

Image
This week, I worked on applying my learnings to build more houses! Similar to the first ever blog I did, I have constructed three new houses of different varieties. I did have some difficulty when building one of the houses though. It seemed to have a spider infection! P.S. this is satire. I still was not able to aquire a timelapse software, unfortunately, but I have recorded a tour of one of the houses. The tour I recorded was my personal favorite so that will be at the end because you gotta save the best for last. So, now onto the houses! For each house, I built it in a different biome in order to see how I can adapt my building techniques to the environment. The first one I built was on the beach and is kind of in a greek style. Here is the house from a further view. As you can see, the blueprint of this house was very open, not having proper windows/doors, since it is a beachhouse. Even though I really like this house, I feel like the other two are just a little more complex and ...

4/23 Blog 4: I became an interior designer!

Image
Although I have improved on my exterior building skills, I haven't focused on what is in the houses. So, I worked on my interior design! While browsing the explore page of Instagram, I stumbled into a Minecraft thread that could be useful for improving on building. So, I tried to recreate them in my own world. As you can see, I was able to recreate all of them with near perfect accuracy, so this was not a problem for me. However, I did run into a different problem. Last week I mentioned how I was having difficulty getting my timelapse mod to work. So, I was troubleshooting it this week and was able to get it working. But, as the timelapse was processing, it said 24 hours till completion and then crashed. So unfortunately, I do not have a timelapse for this week. I did see a different way to timelapse in Minecraft so I'll try that way this week. Now, moving on to the house I have been working on. Here is the dining area I constructed. I was able to use a variety of blocks for...

4/16 Blog 3: How to Landscape and Decorate Walls

Image
This week, I worked on the exterior of the house (windows, doorways, gardening, and overall aesthetic). However, there were some technical difficulties. I tried to set a timelapse of me building the build, but my timelapse mod was not cooperating with me. However, I will get past this and work on fixing it for my next blog. Going back to building, I tested out a doorway idea I had. Here, I used trapdoors, logs, and stairs to really accentuate the wall and add more detail to the boring planks. So, I quite liked the design. Because of the criticism I received on the last post about my house, I decided to go back to it and make it seem more "likable". So, I took their comments into consideration and decided to work on it again. Because of the positive comments on the pond in the front, I decided to extend it and add a bridge for easy access. I also added lilypads in order to add some more greenery, as that was one of the factors I needed to work on this week. In addition, I ...

4/9 Blog 2: Learning and applying the different styles of roofs.

Image
This week, I decided to expand my knowledge of roofs and their designs. So, I found a sheet of different roofs to test out and try. Below is the guide: Thoughout this week, I looked at this photo and attempted to try some of the roofs! Here are my attempts. Here, I tried to make the front half of the roofs. Then, I attempted to build a house using one of these roofs from the guide. But, I challenged myself to attempt to do it from memory. And it was a sucess! #swag. I expanded on my original "overgrown" look from the first blog to try to make it more unique and fit to me using the new methods I learned. Without futher or do, here is my masterpiece. I feel rather proud of this build, considering it is much more aesthetically pleasing than my previous build. Even though I like the build, I would like to see other's opinions on my gorgeous baby. Here, my good friend Anoosha evaluated the build for me. "I love this cute little cottage. The flowers at the front make it...
